I meant to post pics of these ages ago - but I've been busy moving cross-country & settling in to our new place!
We were able to bring home some wonderful farm treasures from M's fam that have a wonderful farm in Tecumseh, NE. While living in Iowa we were close enough to visit a few times, and loved the time we spent with them.
M's mom has such fond memories of the farm, I decided to mount one of the antique locks and doorknobs from the farm, to give for her birthday in January.
Here's the finished product!
I used the other doorknobs to create a coat rack, so we can have a piece of the farm in our home - wherever that home may be!

Don't pitch it, paint it!
I "rescued" a few items from the trash here in Iowa, my new mantra is that nothing has to go to waste - so next time you're putting glass in your recycle bin, don't pitch it, paint it!
First is a rescue from our church youth group this week - we used the blue rope to hang donuts from for our halloween minute to win it, SO fun! I wrapped a root beer bottle, and a vitamin bottle I recently spray painted. The creme vase is an old salsa container, that i attacked w/the spray paint bottle.

The second project started with a can of gold spray paint i fell in love with at Lowes...
These are old mayo containers, the tall one is from Emerald cashews - spray paint, hot glue and 3 golf balls later...we have golden masterpieces!

Halloween Projects
M and I are not the costume-wearing type, but we've done corn mazes, haunted houses, pumpkin canons... and we love giving candy to little tykes running around as super heros. So October is always fun for us.
Since we're living like vagrants this year, I decided to make upcycle halloween decor for my mantle:
Materials needed:
- cardboard rolls (TP / paper towel)
- hot glue
- spray paint
While I already had the glue gun hot, and had burned myself a few times...I decided to paint up a wood tray I picked up, and glue in glass stones

Good Eats: Stuffed Peppers, Pretzels & Poke Cake
We have not been going hungry around here....
Stuffed Peppers
Stuffing consisted of cream cheese, ff mozzarella cheese, dill weed, garlic salt, and oregano
Baked at 350 for 10mins
Poke Cake
(Can be done with regular cake or angel food)
Prepare cake as suggested, once completely cooled poke deep holes all over the top of the cake using a knife for large fork.
Mix 1 jello package with 1 C boiling water, stiring until completely dissolved.
Next add 1/2 c cold water and mix.
Now pour the jello mixture over the top of the cake, and place it in the fridge for 3 hrs.
Take out of fridge, and enjoy! (you can top the cake with cool whip)

Tasty Pretzels
Family secret recipe - I will share this tidbit though:
- For a shiny, pretzel exterior try putting the already formed pretzels in boiling water until they float to the top (5-10 sec)
